Le Vent du Large is ideally located in the heart of the town, on the marina, close to the fishing port, and just 200 meters from the beach. Commerce, fishing, industry (shipbuilding and canneries), as well as crafts and tourism, make Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie a lively town all year round.

From primary school to high school, and for over 30 years, our holiday village has been welcoming schools for educational seaside stays that offer children the opportunity to discover the ocean in a fun way! The Vent du Large team welcomes you on a full-board basis from mid-March to the end of October for your seaside school trips.

Sample Program: "Fishing and Tradition" Stay

Day 1:

Afternoon: Welcome, settling in, first introduction to the environment, return via the beach

Evening: Presentation of the stay

Day 2:

Morning: Shore fishing, discovering coastal wildlife

Afternoon: Workshop on the tide phenomenon

Evening: Quiet time

Day 3:

All day: Visit to Escale Pêche, the sea fishing discovery center. The Escale Pêche team offers tours and workshops about fishing for all ages, integrated into school programs.

Evening: Sea shanty concert

Day 4:

Afternoon: “Land Art” activity: from the beach to the dunes, collecting shells, seaweed lines…

Afternoon: Visit to Moulin des Gourmands and the bakery. Bread-making workshop (starting in April)

Evening: Party

Day 5:

Morning: Walk to “L’Atelier de la Sardine”: from fishing to canning + tasting session

Afternoon: Departure after lunch or with a packed meal

“Ocean Adventure” Stay Program

Day 1:

Afternoon: Welcome, settling in, first introduction to the environment, return via the beach

Afternoon: Seaweed lines and biodegradability

Evening: Quiet time

Day 3:

Morning: Walk through the old quarters, visit to the Fisherman’s House

Afternoon: “Balade de la Vie” — embark on a guided boat tour exploring the history of St Gilles harbor and the “Etoile salt marsh”

Evening: Stories and legends

Day 4:

All day: Visit to Escale Pêche, the sea fishing discovery center. The Escale Pêche team offers tours and workshops about fishing for all ages, integrated into school programs.

Evening: Party

Day 5:

Morning: Exploration of the dune — its fragility, protection, and the role of plants

Afternoon: Departure after lunch or with a packed meal
