Mercantour National Park

One of France’s 11 National Parks

The Mercantour National Park is a vast territory whose biological richness, stunning landscapes, cultural significance, and historically preserved character warrant special protection.

As you explore its hiking trails, you’ll discover exceptional flora where Mediterranean influences mingle with larch and spruce trees; mountain wildlife ranging from herds of ibex to golden eagles and wolves; and remarkable geology offering a diverse array of landscapes.

This exceptional site was designated a National Park in 1979. The village of Saint-Étienne-de-Tinée serves as the starting point for many hikes within Mercantour National Park.

Among the most beautiful routes, the Prals Lakes circuit offers breathtaking views of five lakes along a loop between two valleys. Another favorite is the hike to Lake Lauzanier, which provides stunning views over several charming lakes and the surrounding peaks.

Le Rabuons Hotel is located at one of the gateways to Mercantour National Park.
