Annecy International Animation Film Festival (FIFA)
The biggest international event in the city of Annecy
Since its creation in 1960, the Annecy Animation Film Festival is an international event and competition held every year for one week at the beginning of June in Annecy.
The festival was born after the “Animation Days” organized during the Cannes Film Festival failed to attract attention, as the public and media focused more on big cinema stars’ films.
The Annecy Animation Festival aims to revalorize animated films by showcasing various categories: short and feature films, TV films, graduation films, motion design… Its goal is to introduce new international animated works and support the development of animation cinema.
Since 2006, it has been organized by the Public Cultural Cooperation Establishment (EPCC) called CITIA. The festival gathers a broad audience and professionals from all over the world who vote for the best animated film of the year. The winner receives “The Crystal,” a prize awarded by industry experts.
Alongside the festival runs the International Animation Market (MIFA), which welcomes about 800 international animation companies each year.
During the festival, you can enjoy world premiere screenings, retrospectives, tributes, meetings, and autograph sessions with actors and directors. All week long, free cartoon screenings take place on the grass of the Pâquier, by Lake Annecy.
In short, a week filled with the creative energy and richness of the animation industry — a delight for both young and old worldwide. Come and enjoy!
